We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to join our team at a client's hostel facility in Oxford. This is a meaningful opportunity to make a positive impact and help individuals on their journey toward stability and independence. Key Responsibilities Ensure the safety and well-being of residents by maintaining a secure, welcoming, and orderly environment within the hostel. Provide a warm and inclusive atmosphere, fostering a sense of community and mutual respect among residents. Conduct intake procedures, including registration and orientation for new residents, ensuring familiarity with hostel rules and procedures. Offer emotional support through active listening and empathy, addressing residents' immediate concerns and providing guidance. Collaborate with residents to identify needs and goals, assisting in the development of tailored support plans. Connect residents to essential resources and services, such as healthcare, employment assistance, and housing support. Facilitate group activities, workshops, and life skills sessions to promote personal development, socialization, and self-sufficiency. Respond swiftly and effectively to incidents or emergencies, following established protocols to ensure safety. Maintain accurate, confidential records of resident interactions, incidents, and support plans, adhering to data protection policies. Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, external agencies, and community partners to provide holistic support. Qualifications and Skills Previous experience in hostel work, support roles, or residential settings is preferred. Compassionate and empathetic approach to individuals experiencing homelessness, with a commitment to non-judgmental support. Strong interpersonal and communication skills for building rapport with residents and stakeholders. Ability to actively listen, foster trust, and encourage residents in their personal growth. Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities and adapt to changing situations. Knowledge of local resources, support services, and homelessness-related legislation. Basic computer literacy for documentation and record-keeping. Flexibility to work evenings, overnight, and weekends to provide 24/7 support.
