Job overview
We have an opportunity for a 12 month fixed term appointment or secondment to work within Psychological Services at Ferndene Hospital. Although not guaranteed, it is possible that this could become permanent.
This represents a unique opportunity to develop as a Band 8a Senior Psychologist within the Specialist CYPS CBU. Appropriate line management supervision and specialist clinical supervision will be provided within the service, as well as opportunities for appropriate professional development within the role.
Main duties of the job
The role with involve working into the children and young people's inpatient wards on the Ferndene site. This will include dedicated work into specific wards and cover as clinically needed across the site. This will include both direct and indirect working, and involve working with a range of presentations such as trauma, self-harm, eating related difficulties, autism and learning disability.

Person specification
Education and Qualification
* Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and Neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the HCPC and British Psychological Society.
* HCPC registered practitioner psychologist.
* Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology
* Additional qualification in at least one therapeutic model, evidence-based for use with this client group
Knowledge and Experience
* Knowledge and skills relevant to the client group and setting (e.g. children; inpatient).
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* At least 12 months post qualification experience of specialist psychological assessment, formulation and treatment.
* Experience of providing clinical supervision.
* Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health.
* Formal training in clinical supervision.
Skills and Competencies
* Skills in managing emotional impact of dealing with highly emotive and distressing situations.
* Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups
* Specialist skills in evidence based psychological interventions.
