Job Description
James Gillespie’s High School is seeking a part-time School Support Assistant.
The school is located in the Marchmont area of Edinburgh and has been a fully co-educational comprehensive school since the 1970s. It is also home to Edinburgh’s Ard-Sgoil (Gaelic Secondary).
Founded on James Gillespie’s 18th-century vision of inclusion and high-quality education, the school continues to uphold these values in its new campus completed in August 2016, emphasizing Respect, Kindness, Integrity, Inclusion, and High Expectations.
The successful candidate will assist with tasks related to the care and welfare of pupils, as well as the administration and organization of resources and documentation.
Ideal candidates will work well under pressure, enjoy working with people, and possess strong organizational and time-management skills. A first-aid certificate and prior experience in schools are advantageous. For more information, visit James Gillespie’s High School.
This role involves regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If the candidate has spent three or more months outside the UK in the last five years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be necessary. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of these checks.
