About the role
This Secondary SEND Alternative Provision, based in South Tyneside is looking to appoint a passionate Learning Support Mentor to work in Key Stage 3 or 4 classes on a full-time basis. Working in this Secondary SEND Alternative Provision as part of an established team, the desired Learning Support Mentor will be working on a small class sized basis with pupils with SEND including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and Associated Behavioural Difficulties. As a Learning Support Mentor you will support the class teacher in working with pupils who are disaffected to help raise standards of achievement and help enable them to become independent learners. You will engage in positive behaviour management and encourage pupils to engage in the wider social and academic aspects of school life through extracurricular activities. This full time Learning Support Mentor role is long term from September ongoing with the possibility of a permanent vacancy for the right person.
