Purpose of the Role:
The Site Installation Manager (SIM) is equal with Construction Manager (CM) in accordance with company framework. The Site Manager reports to the Project Manager Installation (PIM) or to another Site Installation Manager (SIM). This individual contributor is fully proficient in applying established standards, has a knowledge base acquired from experience in a particular area, works independently, and may instruct or coach other professionals.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
* The Site Manager is responsible for the planning and execution of civil engineering and cable installation works as part of the overall project execution.
* Related work includes route planning, linear duct installation, reinstatement, HDD trenchless crossings, and HV cable joint bay construction.
* Management of involved subcontractors as well as internal resources assigned to the relevant scope, monitoring against quality inspection and test plans.
* Ensure status reporting to the Senior Site Manager/PIM.
* Ensure good communications and coordination with relevant internal and external parties.
* Ensure progress as per project programme and suggest and implement mitigations in case of schedule slippage.
* Identify risks (including QHSE) and opportunities and conduct proactive work to mitigate identified risks or realize opportunities.
* Ensure that the work is performed according to health & safety and environmental plans and regulations.
* Responsible for installation/service, both qualitatively and quantitatively, performed in the best possible way, considering required time, resources, and cost frames.
Competencies and Qualifications Required for the Position:
* Education: Preferably a degree or formal qualification in civil engineering/construction management or equivalent, alternatively relevant practical experience obtained from a similar role.
* Experience: Previous proven experience from turn-key land cable installation projects including civils and cable installation scope. Preferably having outlined understanding of marine cable installations at the landfalls, as marine interconnectors may be part of the project interface.
* Qualification: UK NVQ/SMSTS, CSCS card to suit role, Black or Gold. Temporary works experience/awareness.
* Languages: Fluent English (additional languages are an advantage).
* Social Skills: High capacity to establish good relations with client and subcontractor representatives at all levels. Skill to manage a team.
* Communication: Ability to write and review high-quality documentation such as method statements, risk assessments, and construction plans being technically accurate.
* Technical & Safety: Technical knowledge related to cable installation such as civil engineering works, duct installation, and HDDs. Good knowledge related to safety and quality works within turn-key installation execution projects.
Planning and Scheduling:
* Manage contracts with the client, subcontractors, and suppliers on site in accordance with company requirements for quality.
* Establish and demobilize site office for land installation.
* Plan the work on the site (scheduling of working hours and activities) such that safety-related risks are eliminated or minimized.
* Ensure that the work will be performed according to quality, health & safety, and environmental plans.
* Follow up the time schedule and report deviations and changes to PIM (Sweden) or PM (Cologne).
* Coordinate subcontractors.
* Ensure that all project members (subcontractors and our own staff) are aware of their responsibilities and that they have the resources, authority, and influence to carry out tasks efficiently and safely.
Authorities:
* Has the responsibility and authority to carry out activities required to achieve the installation or service part of a contract, setting goals within delegated frames or budget.
* Has delegated tasks to ensure HSE in accordance with this role description.
* Has the economic authorization via project delegation.
* To stop activity if a safety issue occurs.
Reporting & Communication:
* Report to the Project Installation Manager (PIM) or Senior Site Installation Manager (Sr SIM) who has delegated duty for a specific project.
* Report status/progress in accordance with the project reporting procedure, such as daily/weekly/monthly reports from the land site.
* Ensure that the registration of deviations of quality and HSE for the installation/service part is carried out throughout the project period and that reporting is submitted to PIM and the Q&HSE responsible in the project.
* When necessary, participate in site meetings with clients. Responsible for employee performance documentation and feedback to department management.
