The Role The CAD Designer assists in the creation and revision of models and drawings of moderate complexity, in support of the development, and sustainment, of OSI’s consoles, racks, peripherals and IBS systems. The CAD Designer is expected to deliver accurate models and drawings in accordance with OSI standards. Key Responsibilities Create and revise models and drawings of mechanical components, electrical components and electro-mechanical assemblies Create and revise cable drawings and schematic diagrams Create redlines on behalf of HWE and Production personnel Create and submit CRs and CNs in PLM system Create and revise item records and BoMs in PLM system Conduct physical measurements of equipment Conduct Level 1 checks of drawings Conduct interference checks within models Prepare model packages for Supply Chain transmittals Participate in design reviews Design sheet metal, machined and welded components, with oversight from MEs Create conceptual drawings and renderings for BD Communicate with external suppliers Support preparation, development and sustainment of procedures and work instructions for CAD Operations Assist with administration of PDM Vault Comply with workplace operating and environmental guidelines, and health and safety procedures Decision Making & Authority Applies judgment and makes decisions to complete moderately difficult assignments while under moderate to minimal supervision You Bring Education: 2 or 3 year diploma in mechanical technology (or equivalent industry experience) with training in 3D modeling and technical drafting Experience: 4 to 7 years of experience Experience with the following is required: Intermediate to advanced proficiency in SolidWorks (AutoCAD Inventor optional) Basic proficiency in AutoCAD Familiarity with PDM Vault (SolidWorks PDM Professional preferred) Intermediate proficiency in the design of sheet metal, machined and welded components Familiarity with electrical drawings Familiarity with Change Management processes Familiarity with PLM software such as PDXpert Working knowledge of ASME Y14.X Drawing Standards Working knowledge of DFM and DFA practices Experience with the following is an asset: Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing Familiarity with naval platform environment Why work for OSI?
