Job summary This is a job advertisement for two substantive Consultants in Anaesthesia. The department will strive to accommodate any sub specialty interest including paediatrics, perioperative medicine, intensive care medicine, trauma, obstetrics, acute pain, regional anaesthesia, and teaching. Main duties of the job The appointee will cover anaesthetic lists at Darent Valley Hospital, Dartford and Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup. The candidate will be expected to participate in an on call out-of-hours consultant rota covering the acute anaesthetic services at Darent Valley hospital. This includes managing sick laparotomies, obstetric services and stabilising critically ill children prior to transfer to a tertiary centre via STRS. At present the frequency is 1:17 but this can change depending on the number of consultants available to participate in this rota. The appointee will have the option of moving a theatre session (or the whole day) post on call to another day in the immediate week to facilitate adequate rest. Rest facilities for overnight nap are available in the anaesthetic office if required.
