About the job
This is an important and challenging role where you will service, repair maintain and overhaul trains to an agreed maintenance programme. You will work to pre-determined specifications, adhere to working instructions and follow all health, safety and quality procedures.
The work is varied and interesting and will include major fault finding, complex component exchanges (cam shafts), test runs, incident testing (doors) and track calls, when we experience a failed train.
Methodical and detailed, you will record all work and ‘sign-off' for work done, taking appropriate action when problems and/or defects are found.
A hands-on, experienced electrical and mechanical fitter, you will have the ability to train, instruct and supervise assistants and apprentices. Shunting and driving duties will be necessary, and you will need to act as the ‘designated person' from time-to-time. A preferred person would already have an apprenticeship.
This is an exciting opportunity to make your mark within our local depot and further training will be provided to help you succeed.
