Sales & Estimating Engineer
A skilled Sales & Estimating Engineer is required to join a leading precision engineering company based in Leighton Buzzard.
We are seeking a seasoned Mechanical Engineer, Production Planner, or Sales/Estimating professional with a background in CNC machining and expertise in working with various metals.
This full-time, permanent position is ideal for an experienced Sales Estimator, Engineering Sub-Contract Buyer/Expeditor, or a former CNC machinist seeking a customer-focused office-based role that leverages technical and IT skills.
Key Responsibilities:
* Process sales orders, inquiries, and customer quotations with accuracy and efficiency.
* Communicate with customers regarding product specifications, order details, delivery timelines, and any special arrangements.
* Build and maintain strong customer relationships through regular engagement.
* Review and respond to Customer RFQs and technical queries.
* Generate accurate and timely estimates and quotations from technical drawings and customer requirements.
* Address technical and non-technical questions via phone and email, ensuring excellent customer service.
* Estimate machining, material, and inspection times for in-house processes while incorporating external subcontractor elements when needed.
* Develop relationships with both new and existing suppliers.
* Identify and plan machining methods, selecting appropriate cycle times (CNC Turning & Boring experience is highly advantageous).
* Collaborate closely with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure quotation accuracy and feasibility.
Requirements:
* Extensive experience in precision engineering, with strong knowledge of machining capabilities and practices across various metals.
* Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings.
* Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
* Competent in using IT systems and software for daily operations.
* Strong interpersonal, communication, listening, and negotiation skills.
* Self-motivated, with a passion for delivering quality work and contributing to the company's success.
* A collaborative team player who can also work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
* Proven time-management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
Salary & Benefits
The salary range for this position is approximately £35k-£40k per annum.
This is a full-time, permanent office-based role with the following hours:
Monday - Thursday: 8.00am - 5.00pm, Friday: 8.00am - 2.30pm
Holidays: 20 days + 8 Bank Holidays, plus additional days holiday given to ensure a full shutdown over the Christmas period each year.
