Job Description General Machinist Full time, shift work Derby, site-based role We have several new outstanding opportunities for qualified (must have completed an apprenticeship) General Machinists to join our Derby Compressor Discs and Drums Facility (DCDD), part of Rotatives UK and Compression. In this role, you will work on CNC machining platforms producing aerospace engine components. You will be responsible for delivering against weekly targets to meet customer requirements. You will also work with cross functional teams to implement and sustain improvement activities within our manufacturing environment. Why Rolls-Royce? What you will be doing In this role you will: Work to Rolls-Royce’s Technical Instructions and program manuals to deliver consistent, high-quality machining across a variety of different components and product families. Operate a variety of Inspection equipment, both mechanical and electronic. Interpret manufacturing drawings, customer drawings and written specifications. Assessment of whether the quality of components produced meet required standards. Effective team work to resolve quality issues and ensure work is being completed to plan. Scope to train and work across a variety of machines, both CNC and manual, including lathes, vertical borer, DMG 5 access milling machine, Dantip. For this role you will need to demonstrate understanding of the appliable health and safety standards and we are looking for someone who is/has: Completed an advanced modern engineering apprenticeship and an NVQ/SVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent qualification. Experience on DMG, Danobat, Mazak multi axis machine centers would be preferable. Experience with aerospace components would be preferable. Clear and demonstrated understanding of drawing interpretation, calibration, dimensional and visual inspection. P ro-active, patient, capable of managing time effectively.
