An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Accountant to join a well-established SME practice in Camberley, Surrey.
This is a superb opportunity to become part of a growing team as they start to expand and increase their client portfolio. This position will offer excellent opportunities for progression and a varied portfolio of client work. Ideally, you will be qualified or part qualified and studying to achieve your full qualification.
As part of an enthusiastic team, you will need to be self-motivated with an outgoing personality, able to work in a fast-moving environment to tight deadlines, as well as a good communicator both internally with Senior Management and external clients.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan the workload for the accounts team using the team planner.
2. Liaise with the Office Manager regarding workflow and deadlines for jobs and billing clients.
3. Contact clients to agree timescales for receiving the information to complete accounts and tax returns.
4. Review records as they come into the office for completeness prior to starting or assigning the work.
5. Agree fees with clients in advance of commencing work for clients not on a Fixed Price Agreement (FPA).
6. Prepare larger jobs from SAGE and/or manual records and post to IRIS, right through to business tax computations.
7. Review the bookkeeping, management accounts, annual accounts, and tax returns to ensure accuracy based on the information provided by the client.
8. Prepare the accounts report to be sent to the client upon completion of a job.
9. Complete job control sheets and clear down the WIP for the job prior to obtaining approval.
10. Provide the admin team with all necessary information to enable them to prepare letters and documents to be sent to clients with their accounts.
11. Review letters and information prior to sending to clients to ensure the correct and consistent message.
12. Be the main point of contact for clients within the portfolio.
13. Prepare the IRIS accounting records for new clients using opening trial balances, tax computations, and other salient information received from previous accountants.
14. Prepare personal tax computations and self-assessment tax returns.
15. Prepare statutory accounts using the IRIS system, ensuring all disclosures are correctly included.
16. Prepare management accounts and liaise with clients.
17. Ensure that we provide all clients with the best possible service and meet their expectations.
18. Deal with HMRC enquiries.
19. Provide necessary support and training to all other team members as required.
20. Keep up to date with relevant legislation and accounting standards.
21. Supervise the preparation of Management Accounts.
22. Tailor the Management Accounts templates to meet individual client needs.
23. Prepare budgets and forecasts on behalf of clients.
24. Prepare Tax Credit claims and deal with HMRC queries on behalf of clients.
25. Attend and run client Board view meetings.
26. Generate new business.
27. Promote the Added Value Services to existing and new clients.
28. Train and mentor junior staff.
Person Requirements:
1. ACA or ACCA qualified.
2. At least 3+ years' experience working in a similar public practice accountancy firm.
3. Track record of supervising/managing junior staff members, including reviewing work.
4. Proficient in the use of accounting software programmes such as IRIS, Xero, Sage.
