Job overview
We have an exciting new opportunity for a Pharmacy leader to be at the forefront of patient care as a specialist in and lead of a team of pharmacy technicians within the ED and AMU at East Kent. The role is spread across the two main hospital sites: William Harvey and Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother.
Within this role, you will have the opportunity to develop your leadership skills, enhance clinical skills, and contribute to service development in an ever-growing team. Our aim is to build a pharmacy workforce at the forefront of the hospital, working closely with the multidisciplinary team to deliver patient care at a time where it can have the most impact on patient outcomes from hospital treatment. Significant investment has been made over the last few years, developing new roles within ED and AMU for pharmacy technicians.
Both Emergency Departments are new facilities which include ePMA and automated medicines cabinets.
Main duties of the job
* The post holder will act as Deputy to the Lead Clinical Pharmacy Technician in supporting the delivery of a consistent and comprehensive Trustwide clinical service across the three sites.
* To act as line manager for clinical Pharmacy Technicians within Urgent and Emergency Care and help manage clinical activities for pharmacy staff not under their line management.
* To manage recruitment, training, supervision and development of members of the team to ensure a safe and consistent service is maintained.
* To support the training and assessment of staff training or rotating through the clinical service.
* To act as a role model for all staff members and provide professional support to team members.

The ability to converse easily and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for all customer-facing roles.
