Measure, monitor & record the following vital signs:- Temperature, Blood pressure, Pulse, Respiration, SATs, Neurological observations, Pain score, and reporting and escalating appropriately on NEWS scoring. Perform and record blood glucose levels utilising blood glucose monitoring equipment reporting adverse results to RN. Insert urinary catheters as per CSH Policy under the indirect supervision of a RN.. Perform and record urinalysis as per CSH policy, reporting adverse results to RN. Administration of medication under the indirect supervision of a RN upon successful completion of competencies, and in line with CSH policy and the NMC (2018) Standards of proficiency Annexe B Procedures Standards of Proficiency. Via the following routes: oral; intra Muscular Injections; subcutaneous injections; topical; inhaled; per rectal/vaginal and enteral. Obtain requested specimens and ensure transportation to appropriate department Faeces, Sputum, and Exudates e.g. swabs nose, exit site, wound site, etc. Perform basic life support, give assistance to professionals during advanced life- support techniques. Contribute to the safe and timely discharge of all patients. Assist in the delivery of health promotion advice as appropriate to role and in line with own level of competence, e.g. Smoking Cessation and diabetes management. Contribute to the provision of care for people, including those with complex needs. Understand the roles of a range of professionals and carers from other organisations and settings who may be participating in the care of a person and their family. Maintain professional behaviour and attitude at all times, and demonstrate excellent customer care skills in line with the CSH Values Adhere to CSH Uniform Policy. Engage in public health, community development, and in the reduction of health inequalities Be familiar with, comply and be able to access all CSH Policies and Procedures Support and supervise others e.g. health care support workers, apprentices - including Trainee Nursing Associates.As directed by manager undertakes audits in the clinical area and participates in research where appropriate. Take a key role in service improvement initiatives where appropriate. The Nursing Associate will be proficient and competent and work within their scope of practice as governed by the NMC Code (2018) and NMC Standards of Proficiency ( 2018) Act as a role model by upholding and implementing good practice in the workplace, always ensuring the highest standards of evidence based care. Maintain responsibility for the identification of own continuing educational needs and development.
