We are a friendly GP surgery looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Treatment Room Nurse who is looking to cover maternity and training absences at our Practice. We have a very supportive, flexible, forward-thinking nursing and HCA team and pride ourselves on strong team working.
We require someone to work a minimum of 20 hours over 3 days per week but also welcome applicants looking for full-time hours.
The duration of the temporary cover is noted as 6 months but this can be reduced or extended by mutual agreement and can be discussed in the interview.
Main duties of the job
Our ideal candidate will deliver several Treatment Room clinics providing assessment, treatment, screening, health education, and advice to patients including wound management, administering vaccinations/immunisations, contraception reviews, and cervical screening.

Located in a purpose-built medical centre in Arnold, Nottingham.
Established Clinical team comprising of two GP Partners, one Nurse Partner, four Salaried GPs, additional GP Registrars/F2s, three Practice Nurses, one Nurse Associate, one trainee Nurse Associate, and two Health Care Assistants. This will be in addition to one Senior Practice Pharmacist, one Pharmacy Technician, one First Contact Physiotherapist, and one Mental Health Practitioner as part of the PCN.
List size of 11,500 patients.

We use Ardens template toolkit which provides structure and standardisation for clinical consultations.
Remote consultations offered where appropriate using eConsult and ACCURX.
We are a training Practice for GPs and Medical Students, and work hard to ensure that our Nurses can take full advantage of training and development pathways. We value the contribution that our Nursing team makes, and, in turn, we offer excellent support and opportunities for personal development. Ideally, we are looking for a Registered Nurse with experience in delivering Treatment Room procedures.

Job Overview:

1. To provide nursing services to the Practice population by assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
2. To ensure the provision of a high-quality patient service within a safe, efficient working environment by providing effective support to the Partners and staff and encouraging the development and progress of Highcroft Surgery.
3. Maintaining appropriate records to ensure continuity and quality of care for patients.
4. To collaborate with other GP Partners/employees and Practice staff on development and delivery of PBC (Practice Based Commissioning) and enhanced service issues within Highcroft Surgery.
5. To be involved in Practice development, identifying service changes and developments in line with clinical needs locally and work to develop these as part of PBC and other processes.
6. Maintaining records of appointments and other administrative duties.
7. To maintain skills and undertake such training and development as may from time-to-time be required to maintain personal competency.
Location:
Highcroft Surgery, but you may be asked to travel for meetings and training or provide cover for another Practice or Primary Care Network at such notice in the event of an emergency.
Working Hours:
Hours of work will be detailed in your contract of employment.
Role Specific Duties:
1. To provide assessment, treatment, screening, health education services, and advice working in accordance with the NMC Code of conduct.
2. Provide nursing treatments to patients independently or in participation with other clinical colleagues working to agreed protocols and guidelines.
3. Provide general and specific health screenings to the Practice patients within agreed protocols and guidelines referring to other members of the clinical team as necessary.
4. Participate in national screening work such as cervical cytology and meet targets delivering the national immunisation and vaccination schedule.
5. Nursing procedures to include:
* Measuring blood pressure
* Routine injections as prescribed
* Cervical smears
* Venepuncture
* ECGs
* Ear syringing
* Vaccinations and immunisations
* Assisting with minor surgery
* Urine testing
* Swabs
* Health promotion
* Take responsibility for the safe storage and administration of drugs and equipment.
* Provide advice to patients for general health care and minor ailments, with referral to another clinician as necessary.
* To participate in research within the Practice.
* To be responsible for the efficient running of the treatment room and equipment.
* To assist with the management of leg ulcers.
* Ensure all statutory regulations (e.g. Infection control, Health & Safety, COSHH, etc.) are implemented and adhered to.
* To maintain accurate, comprehensive records of all consultations and treatments in the patients' notes, both written and computerised.
* Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient health care and registration with the Practice.
* To have working knowledge of equipment used in the surgery.
* Ensure compliance with patient confidentiality at all times in line with current legislation.
* Contribute to the development of new patient services.
* Inform your line manager of any reported or suspected failings in the provision of care within the Practice.
