Supplier Quality Engineer

All our products are manufactured in-house and have been installed in some of the most challenging environments on planet earth from the Arctic Circle to the Jungles of Borneo.

Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to join our established quality team. Raytec have a large supplier network most of which are based in the North East of England.
Location
The role is based at our Head Office in Ashington, Northumberland.
Purpose of the Job
* Continuously improve supplier performance through collaboration.
* Audit suppliers to verify their processes and identify areas for improvement, follow up to ensure improvements are implemented as required.
* Work internally and externally to agree the correct quality assurance measures with suppliers and ensure they are adhered to.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Works collaboratively with Purchasing/Sales Team to research, source, and assess the best vendors to supply the necessary materials.
* Visits vendor facilities, observing the manufacturing environment to review, assess and audit their procedures according to the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 and Raytec’s internal standards.
* Performs regular Quality Audits to ensure vendors continue to work in compliance over the long-term.
* Works with the Quality Technicians and Engineers to assess incoming supplies and products from vendors - ensuring quality standards are met.
* Works with the Quality Technicians and Engineers to conduct tests and assessments on products to identify quality issues.
* Maintains detailed KPIs on Supplier Quality, including PPM, OTIF and overall general performance.
* Provides technical advice and support, working collaboratively with suppliers to reduce defect rates and improve quality performance.
* Serves as a liaison between Raytec and the Raytec Supply Chain.
Reporting to
This role is reporting to the Head of Quality.
Working Hours
This is a Full Time position working 08.30 – 17:00 Monday-Thursday, 8.30-2.30 Friday. There is some travel involved in this role so additional hours may be required.

Essential Skills
* Proven experience in a Supplier Quality Assurance role.
* Demonstrable skills in Supply Chain Management.
* Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and its application.
* Extensive Lead Auditing Experience.
* Experience with manufacturing, production processes and engineering principles.
* Excellent communication and liaison skills.
* Strong IT skills and proficient in data manipulation.
* Excellent statistical analysis and Quality Assurance skills.
* Confident, assertive, and able to work collaboratively at all levels.
* Full driving licence and valid right to work in the UK.
* Willing to travel nationally and internationally to meet the requirements of the role and needs of the business.
Desirable Skills
* Working knowledge of ATEX Standards.
* Educated to degree level in a relevant commercial or engineering discipline.
* Good knowledge of luminaires, LEDs, and associated electronics.
