We are looking for an experienced Actuarial Assistant to join our offices in Reading, Manchester, Belfast, or Leeds with hybrid working. This role would suit someone with previous pensions valuation experience.
Our Pensions Advisory business continues to grow. We undertake pensions administration for over one million members and provide advisory services to schemes and corporate sponsors in respect of schemes of all sizes.
The Role
As a Pensions Actuarial Assistant (Insurance Pricing) with XPS you will:
* Carry out cashflow valuations of funds considering buyout/buy-in insurance contracts
* Be involved in data and actuarial bases preparation using in-house standard approaches and in-house developed software
* Produce complex actuarial models and calculations (Individual benefit and transfer value calculations)
* Develop a basic understanding of relevant technical issues, including scheme documentation and the supporting regulatory framework
* Report to the team leader where tight deadlines and/or budgets have been imposed
* Prioritise and plan personal workflow
Your Profile
Essential Criteria
* Previous experience in pensions valuations is required
* Strong IT skills, expertise in MS Excel is essential
* Good analytical skills and ability to work through tasks in a logical manner
* A keen interest in actuarial concepts
* A high level of numeracy
* Ability to work well under time pressure and communicate findings with clarity
* An inquisitive and analytical mind
* Outstanding accuracy and attention to detail
* Excellent written and verbal communication
* Highly organised with the ability to prioritise effectively
* Broad understanding of how UK pensions schemes operate
