The UK Government has established UK Industrial Fusion Solutions (UKIFS) Ltd., a subsidiary of UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA), to lead the charge in delivering fusion energy through design and delivery of the Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production (STEP) prototype fusion plant. UKIFS is establishing itself, setting up the company, attracting talent, engaging with industry, developing a supply chain, and planning and constructing the STEP prototype.
Fusion energy, crucial for combating climate change and ensuring energy independence, is expected to be commercially viable by mid-century. The UK, led by UKIFS, aims for a prototype fusion plant, targeting first operations around 2040. UK Industrial Fusion Solutions Ltd. will lead delivery, collaborating with industrial partners and building a fusion supply chain with an estimated global sector value of £7tn per year. The Role

In this role, you will play a pivotal role in the delivery of the Build Environment project, characterising and preparing the site for major construction and the submission of the DCO. This role involves guiding and supporting the Senior team and the Assistant Project Manager, ensuring alignment with the strategic vision, and managing high-level stakeholder relationships.
Additional Responsibilities:
* Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and timelines.
* Coordinate project activities, ensuring alignment with STEP objectives and timelines.
* Ensure the preparation and maintenance of project documentation and records.
* Ensure all aspects of the NEC4 contracts are administered in accordance with the agreed terms and conditions.
* Monitor compliance with contractual obligations by all parties involved.
* Maintain accurate records of all contract-related documentation, communications, and transactions.
* Ensure excellent HSE performance on all projects.
* Resolve obstacles to project delivery and lead the identification and employment of creative solutions to overcome them.
* Report progress against milestones, changes, exceptions, budgets, and other key performance indicators.
* Effective project risk and change management.
Qualifications
* Significant experience in senior project management roles within the energy sector or a related field.
* Ability to understand complex engineering concepts, make informed decisions, and effectively communicate project goals, expectations, and updates to both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
* Proven track record of leading and delivering large-scale, complex projects.
* Strong strategic planning and execution skills.
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities.
* Advanced financial and resource management skills.
* Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills, with experience in mentoring and developing team members.
* Prior experience with Sensat or similar digital platforms.
* Background in engineering, construction, or a related field.
* Familiarity with the UK regulatory environment and standards for large-scale projects.
* Advanced certifications in project management, such as PMP or PRINCE2.
