Proactive Personnel Ltd are currently recruiting for an experienced Buyer for our client based in the Bristol area. Our clients industry is growing rapidly, and is certainly an exciting space to be in!
As a family-run business with an international corporate reach, we are seeking a Buyer who will be responsible for sourcing, selecting and negotiating with suppliers to ensure the best possible products and the best possible prices!
As this is a smaller business, everyone works as a team and has a very hands on approach! Due to the nature of the business, there is no option of remote working with this role.
A large part of this role is managing stock, spotting seasonal fluctuations and being able to react in quick time and buy from multiple sources!
You will need a product related background for this role and have experience operating on an international level.
This is not your standard Buyer role, and as such, we aren’t looking for a standard Buyer!
Experience required:
1. Proven experience in a Buyer / Purchasing role on an international scale
2. Ideally this will be automotive parts, electrical or industrial distribution although this is not essential.
3. Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
4. Excellent communication skills to deliver often complex information to all levels of the business.
5. A very good knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required.
The role:
6. Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules & rebates with suppliers to ensure optimal cost and delivery times.
7. Deliver to a sales, margin and stock budget.
8. Re-Ordering of all products – working with open to buy, minimum stock quantities and
9. Constant liaison with branch managers and field sales teams to ensure key lines are always in stock.
10. Working with the Distribution team to co-ordinate all aspects of product purchasing.
11. Far East sourcing (FOB, Manufacturing, Quality Control) to ensure products made abroad are built to the highest quality & safety specifications.
12. Strengthening relationships with product suppliers and fostering long-term partnerships.
13. Collaborate with the leadership team to ensure we are enabling our sales teams to reach their targets.
14. Understanding the life cycle of a product in a seasonally reactive business.
15. Conduct market research to ensure trends & commercial opportunities are identified.
16. Analyse sales data to identify product performance & make informed recommendations for product improvements.
