Job Title: Early Years Sector Support Assistant
Location: Mainly Home-Based (Office attendance 2 days per week, Newcastle upon Tyne)
Contract Type: Temporary (to start ASAP, ending 31/01/2025, likely extended)
About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen with our client in the Early Years Sector Support Team, supporting the National Wraparound Project in Newcastle upon Tyne. This project is focused on improving early years and childcare settings, including school-aged provision, to provide working parents and carers with wraparound childcare that extends from 8am to 6pm during term time.
You will play a vital role in supporting the development of new and expanded childcare provisions, monitoring and reporting on targeted funding, and ensuring parents and carers are aware of the services available to them. This is a temporary position to start ASAP, ending on 31/01/2025, with the possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities:
* Data Collection & Analysis: Use and gather data to identify gaps in service provision and inform plans for development.
* Support for Provision Expansion: Assist in the development of new and expanded childcare services.
* Monitoring & Reporting: Track the progress of a targeted start-up fund and produce reports as required.
* Collaboration: Work with a range of partners, including schools, childcare providers, childminders, and parents, to ensure awareness of available services and support.
* Customer Support: Field queries and share information about existing and new provision with parents, providers, and schools.
* General Support: Work within the wider Early Years sector team to improve childcare quality, support workforce development, and provide training.
Essential Criteria:
* Experience and knowledge of wraparound childcare.
* Strong ICT skills with advanced knowledge of Excel for data management.
* Experience supporting professionals and the public to access services.
* Ability to work in partnership with a wide range of organizations.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work well as part of a team and contribute to a collaborative environment.
Desirable Criteria:
* Experience working in the Early Years and Childcare sector.
* Experience participating in formal meetings and working with external stakeholders.

Working Environment:
