We are looking for a compassionate, caring and hardworking Radiographer to join our CT and MR team. We are open to CT only posts, MR only posts, or a combination of both CT and MR.
The post holder will be a key member of the Radiology team, working with and supporting the Lead Radiographers and the Radiology Department Manager to provide the MRI and/or CT service for the Royal Hampshire County Hospital (RHCH) and the Andover War Memorial Hospital (AWMH). HHFT also covers BNHH and Alton.
We currently have 4 CT scanners and 2 MR scanners across both sites. 4 Canon CT scanners are less than 5 years old, and we are due to replace our MR scanners with 2 new Siemens scanners in early 2025.
The post holder must comply with and demonstrate a working knowledge of all regulations including IRMER and IRR(17).
The post holder will work with the Clinical Lead Radiographer to ensure a high quality and efficient MRI and/or CT service. Previous experience in cross-sectional imaging is necessary for this post.
Main duties of the job
* To perform the full range of MRI and/or CT imaging examinations including Cardiac, Body, Angio, MSK etc.
* To independently assess and vet CT and/or MR referrals following Department policy and guidelines where appropriate.
* To supervise and assist specialist and junior radiographers and students.
* To provide senior support to the Clinical Lead and to provide senior cover during the Lead's absence. To understand the physics involved in CT and/or MR with an ability to manipulate protocols to improve imaging and reduce dose. To prioritise workload and regularly reassess to ensure patient needs are met.
* To undertake examinations to a high standard, across a range of clinical specialties, upon a range of patient types, both as an autonomous practitioner and as part of a multi-professional team, in a manner that meets professional, departmental and legal standards and requirements.
* To give IV injections of MRI and CT contrast agents, including the use of specialist injector pumps. Training will be provided where required.
* To provide safety checks on patients prior to imaging and injecting with contrast.
