We do things well and keep evolving We are looking for a new Housing Practitioner who is experienced and technically competent in private sector housing enforcement, with a relevant degree and who will be able to lead the housing enforcement team. This post will shortly be moving to the newly formed Neighbourhood teams which will be responsible for all areas of Council enforcement including housing enforcement and empty homes; parking service; anti-social behaviour and safeguarding; planning enforcement; Food Health & Safety; Licensing; and Community and Environment protection. You will have the opportunity to contribute to new ways of collaborative working and help ensure the improvement of housing conditions across Teignbridge. This role will be responsible for both reactive and proactive enforcement work as well as providing support to agents, landlords and tenants. You are a Teignbridge District Council fit if you: Have a degree in Environmental Health or equivalent degree relating to housing or the equivalent level of relevant knowledge gained from demonstrable, directly relevant work experience. Have experience of managing team members including performance management. Have experience of working within an Environmental Health or Housing department, particularly carrying out housing conditions assessment and applying enforcement procedures and powers. Have detailed and comprehensive knowledge of building construction. Are able to lead on and perform a wide range of complex tasks and to make evidence-led recommendations on decisions relating to complex, high profile, or particularly sensitive cases.
