Now is the time to reimagine your future with WDH apprenticeships.
Are you looking to learn and develop practical skills for life? An apprenticeship with WDH is a chance to start your career journey, or even take the opportunity to re-train in a growing, vibrant housing sector.
Who we are
WDH is a social housing landlord delivering high quality, affordable homes in the Wakefield district and beyond.
WDH has over 31,000 properties but is much more than bricks and mortar. With a commitment to make real change through social outcomes, it helps customers to tackle the challenges of modern living and through partnership works to create confident and sustainable communities. Recognising its long-term commitment to tenant engagement, WDH was the first housing association to be awarded the Tpas Exemplar accreditation.
With a workforce of over 1,400 people, WDH has held Investors in People accreditation since 2010.
We are an inclusive workforce and an equal opportunities employer committed to diversity and progression at work.
Becoming an apprentice is an important decision and it involves making a commitment. It takes time to learn new skills, but our Technical Services teams will be on hand to train you. The teams are responsible for the maintenance and repair of our customers’ homes and carrying out refurbishment works.
You will be working alongside multi-skilled tradespeople in a busy, inclusive environment and gain the necessary knowledge to become a master of your craft.
What training do you get?
As part of our apprenticeship programme, you will receive up to four years of training and gain a nationally recognised Level 2 and/or Level 3 qualification. Our apprenticeship programme also offers further opportunities for personal and professional development and an insight into wider business operations.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic team players, good problem solvers, who demonstrate a positive attitude and are committed to delivering excellent customer care. We are committed to tackling gender equality and keen to welcome females to create a more diverse workforce.
Applicants will have achieved, or be predicted to achieve, up to three GCSEs or equivalent (grade 9 - 3/A*- D) including Maths and English.
If you would like more information about our apprenticeships, email your contact details to apprentice@wdh.co.uk.
The apprenticeship will begin in September 2025.
