Technology Commercial Manager
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Commercial Manager to partner with business leaders across the organisation, establishing procurement policy and controls with commercial insight and acumen.
Ideally, you will be CIPS qualified or working towards it, with solid experience of working in a Procurement Management team within a larger matrix management structure. The Technology Commercial Manager will be fully conversant with tendering Technology requirements from conception through to contract delivery and award, through to effective relationship management.
This position is Hybrid with 2 days per week in the Cheltenham office.
Key accountabilities:
1. Manage end to end tender processes from requirement, building specifications, evaluation, contract award through to contract management.
2. Embed and develop continuous Category Management improvements.
3. Undertake the development, review and negotiation of large, complex contracts, ensuring the delivery of the commercial pipeline.
4. Deliver supplier cost reduction targets from new and existing contracts, identifying increased efficiencies and process improvements.
5. Ensure contract performance and risk management.
6. Deliver commercial support utilising the organisation's eProcurement tool.
7. Manage relationships with stakeholders and confidently lead dialogue with these stakeholders throughout the procurement process.
8. Proactively engage with the supplier base for innovation and influence best practices on procurement processes.
9. Carry out forward planning of procurement activity including reviewing tender event schedules.
10. Collaborate with peers from the other business units to understand the existing relationship procurement has with the rest of the organisation and identify the opportunities to maximise adding value.
11. Lead, support and provide updates on tenders, contract review and negotiations.
12. Build effective stakeholder relationships.
13. Responsible for ensuring that high quality, professional procurement advice is given to the business in line with Procurement Procedures and Corporate Governance Policies.
14. Ensure procurement best practice is consistently demonstrated. Line management responsibilities to include development of a team.
Skills, qualifications, and experience:
1. Degree qualified or equivalent in a business-related subject.
2. CIPS qualified or working towards.
3. Solid experience of working in a Procurement Management team within a larger matrix management structure.
4. Fully conversant with tendering requirements from conception through to contract delivery and award, through to effective relationship management.
5. Capability to research markets to understand the internal and external influences to guide best practice procurements.
6. Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and eProcurement tools.
7. Experience of liaising with Executive Directors and Senior Managers.
8. Possess strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
9. Comfortable working under pressure and within strict deadlines.
10. Possess a broad range of exposure to various technical environments and business areas.
11. Possess strong business acumen.
12. Possess superior influencing skills - able to influence and motivate others using personal rather than positional power.
