We are seeking a Health Care Assistant to join our busy and friendly team in the Cornwall Skin Clinic for up to 12 months.
Based within The Three Spires Medical Practice in Truro, you will assist our clinical team of consultants, GPs, and Nurses in a theatre setting in providing 'see and treat' and day case clinics for the Dermatology service.
We have up to 24 hours available (two full days and two half days). Your earliest start will be 8.30 am and the latest finish will be 5.00 pm.
Main duties of the job
Ideally, you will have previous minor operations or theatre experience as you will be assisting in our Dermatology clinics (a 'see and treat' service).
You should already be working at a Band 3 level.
Job responsibilities
Working with the nurse team, providing care for patients as directed by the practice nurse or GP; the post holder will be required to use their own initiative but must be able to recognise their own limitations and seek guidance where necessary.
Dermatology practice includes:
* Assisting the Consultant Dermatologist or GPwSI in dermatology clinics either in the consulting room or the minor operations theatre.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Qualified to NVQ Level 3 in HCA or Health and Social Care.
* GCSE Grade A to C in English and Maths (or Literacy / Numeracy at Level 2 or above).
* Fully trained in Phlebotomy.
* Fully trained in assisting in minor procedures.
Experience
* Experience of working in primary care.
* Experience of working unsupervised.
* Experienced phlebotomist.
* Experience of working in a GP practice.
Skills
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Uses initiative.
* Able to prioritise.
Abilities
* Is confident and enthusiastic.
* Can be flexible and a team player.
