As a Cook, your typical day will impact in the following ways:
1. Setting up equipment and supplies for food preparation
2. Preparing meals and snacks according to production sheets, recipes and other menu documents as provided
3. Providing for prescribed diets, at appropriate temperatures and in portion-controlled quantities
4. Monitoring quality of food supplies received and advising the team leader of problems, making recommendations about corrective action
5. In the absence of the team leader, assuming responsibility for departmental operations including menu changes as necessary, requisitions, and purchases food and other supplies from authorized suppliers
6. Assisting in the orientation and training of new team members
7. Performing other duties as assigned
Must haves:
1. A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or Smart Serve certificate
2. Experience with cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality
3. Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence
4. All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check (Applicable to Ontario applicants)
5. All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Criminal Records Check (Applicable to British Columbia applicants)
Bonus points for having:
1. Graduate of a recognized college food preparation program and willing to Red Seal certify
