About The Role:
This role is based at our Crewe site.
Our Rail Engineering/Fitter Apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to learn about supporting operational activities around the overhaul and maintenance of bogies, wheelsets, traction motors, pantographs, HVAC units, and construction of new build bogies for HS2. You will work as part of a multifunctional team, supporting operational activities.
You will also be involved in:
* The overhaul and maintenance of bogies, wheelsets, traction motors, pantographs, and HVAC units
* The construction of the new build bogies for HS2
* Participating in company initiatives, particularly in Continuous Improvement activities targeted at all aspects of Alstom performance
* Participating in STEM & other Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives
* Complying with Alstom Procedures and the Code of Ethics
* Carrying out general depot duties
* Providing basic maintenance competency
* Carrying out depot cleaning/general housekeeping
* Carrying out testing activities in accordance with pre-written test procedures
As part of the apprenticeship programme, you will be working towards completing a Level 3 Diploma in Rail Engineering Knowledge and the Level 3 Competency in Rail Engineering. Over the programme, you will be combining academic studies with real-life work-based experience across our organisation, which will give you the opportunity to build and gather evidence of your competence while working towards a formal qualification.
Joining the team at Alstom will mean working on real assignments and gaining hands-on experience from day one, with the chance to build a personal network across the business.
This apprenticeship programme is the start of your progression into technical expert roles. We are looking for innovative and ambitious talent to become our future leaders and senior managers. Upon completion of the apprenticeship programme, there will be the opportunity to step up into these roles.
On completion of the apprenticeship, you will be expected to undertake various processes on the repair and overhaul of traction and rolling stock as a manufacturing team member.
Entry Requirements:
* GCSE or equivalent in 5 subjects including Maths, English, and Science at Grades 5-9
Candidates will also need to have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a team. Candidates should also be logical and use their initiative.
