What we’re looking for…
To provide technical expertise ensuring maximum equipment availability and reliability through completion of scheduled Planned Maintenance activities and where required, ensure a timely reactive response to support technical issues across site. All completed with the highest levels of health and safety and quality in mind.
Our large factories produce multi formats across a number of high speed modern lines, producing to high quality standards whilst maximising production outputs and minimising overhead costs. The Engineering Technician is part of a team of Technicians reporting to the Engineering Team Leader.
Key relations include : Site manufacturing teams, Quality team members, Projects, Service providers, HS&E and approved contractors
Your responsibilities will include...
As an Engineering Technician your responsibilities will include;
1. Undertake planned preventative and corrective maintenance across all equipment on the site recommending improvements where appropriate, to ensure efficiencies are maximised.
2. When undertaking fault finding and diagnostic work, understand and diagnose problems and then implement permanent corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Working with the equipment users to understand clearly the problems to ensure that sustainable remedial solutions can be implemented
3. Identify continuous improvement opportunities and follow these through to implementation where appropriate
4. Carry out all duties in accordance with safe working practices and factory hygiene standards.
5. Produce detailed written reports when and where required downtime sheets and line log books.
6. When identifying faulty equipment consult manufacturers manuals & read detailed mechanical exploded drawings so correct replacement parts can be ordered.
What you’ll bring...
7. City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 in a Mechanical/Electrical engineering discipline
8. ONC/ BTEC Level 3 or equivalent Mechanical/Electrical engineering discipline
9. Time served/ Apprentice trained
10. 18th Edition IEE regulations certification desirable
11. Previous experience of working in an Engineering/Maintenance department - preferably within a food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
12. Ability to fault find, diagnose and correct Electrical and Mechanical equipment faults and implement appropriate measures to prevent recurrence.
13. Proven knowledge and experience of initiating and implementing continuous improvements, lean manufacturing and Six sigma techniques.
14. Knowledge of industrial control systems and PLC’s - preferably Siemens
15. Attention to detail - with a real focus on accuracy, will work hard to ensure a right first time approach and will have the ability to spot discrepancies and inaccuracies with ease.
16. Problem-solver - tenacious and will use creativity, innovation and an analytical approach to exhaust all options until a satisfactory solution is found.
17. Strong IT skills.
18. Proactive and positive can-do attitude.
