As a newly qualified Nurse at NNUH you will be part of one of the largest acute trusts in the UK, with the exceptional facilities, training and support that you would expect to go with that. In particular the Surgery Critical and Emergency Care Division are developing services for recognition as a Major Trauma Centre, enhancing clinical education posts amongst other projects!

The Surgery Critical & Emergency Care Division represents the largest area of our amazing hospital team. With 29 theatres covering General Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Robotic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Maxillofacial Surgery, Head and Neck Surgery, Urology, Gynaecology, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Emergency Surgery and Obstetrics our surgical wards welcome a huge variety of cases and patients. We operate with a strong cooperative approach working with interdisciplinary and inter-team collaboration being a regular feature. As such we value excellent team values, communication and interpersonal skills in all of our nursing team and would welcome and encourage rotational posts.
Clinical Responsibilities:
1. Ensure practice is in accordance with the NMC Code and work within limits of competence.
2. Assist in the management of patient case load under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
3. To accurately and promptly carry out the instructions of the Registered Nurse who is professionally accountable for the delivery of care.
4. Carry out assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of nursing care under the direction of a more senior member of staff.
Communication:
1. Communicate effectively within the nursing team, multi-disciplinary team and other departments to ensure that patient care is well planned and coordinated.
Professional Development:
1. To commence the Trusts Preceptorship Programme, identifying learning objectives and beginning the preceptorship documentation using the KSF outline as a guide.
2. To complete Ward/Department and Trust induction and mandatory training as required.
