An exciting opportunity has become available for a full time Ward Clerk on Ward 8D Infectious Diseases at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
The Ward is a 28 bed Infectious Diseases unit with a fast turnover of patients requiring the successful candidate to be extremely organised, committed, and hardworking. It is essential that candidates have excellent IT skills and can speak confidently to patients when dealing with their inquiries either face to face or over the phone. The successful candidate will also be responsible for using trust patient IT systems including pens/dashboard and IPM, ensuring patient discharge letters are sent and filed, and arranging follow-up appointments for their next treatment if required. Enhanced organisational skills are required to ensure confidentiality is maintained and case notes, letters, and documentation are kept securely. The ideal candidate must be approachable, committed, and kind, and wish to actively participate in what is a friendly and hardworking team as well as directly with the general public.
Main duties of the job
The main roles include answering the phone, possessing good basic computer skills, ensuring patients' appointments have been booked, and filing and organising documentation in the clinical area.
Job responsibilities
The role of the ward clerk is to answer the phone and deal with patient inquiries, file notes, ensure documentation is correct, and order documentation required for the ward. Responsibilities also include ensuring the digital boards are correct with consultant information, using the IPM system to confirm patient arrivals for their appointments, and sending out appointment letters.
