Data Protection Officer (Energy Generation Industry)
Location: Remote - UK
Type: Part-time (10 hours per week minimum commitment)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Data Protection Officer (DPO) to ensure compliance with data protection laws and regulations within the energy generation sector. As a DPO, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding sensitive data, managing compliance risks, and driving a culture of privacy and accountability across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure Compliance: Oversee compliance with GDPR, UK GDPR, and other applicable data protection laws, particularly for handling employee, customer, and infrastructure-related data.
* Risk Management: Conduct regular data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) and audits to identify and mitigate data protection risks.
* Policy Development: Develop, implement, and maintain data protection policies and procedures tailored to the energy industry.
* Training & Awareness: Train employees on data protection practices and foster a privacy-first culture.
* Incident Management: Monitor, investigate, and report data breaches in compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Liaison with Authorities: Act as the primary contact with the ICO and other regulatory bodies.
* Support Digital Transformation: Provide guidance on data privacy for innovative technologies and systems, such as IoT, renewable energy projects, and grid management.
Qualifications:
* In-depth knowledge of GDPR, UK GDPR, and data protection laws.
* Experience in data protection or compliance, preferably within the energy, utilities, or infrastructure sector.
* Strong understanding of IT systems, cybersecurity, and risk management.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to advise on complex privacy issues.
* Relevant certifications (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM, or equivalent) are desirable.
