Job Description
Nexos is seeking a highly experienced Lead/Principal Structural/Civil Engineer to join our team on a permanent basis in Aberdeen.
This role will oversee structural engineering deliverables and activities, ensuring alignment with company engineering procedures and core values. As the manager of assigned projects and contracts, you will be accountable for maintaining technical excellence and managing delivery to plans.
Your key duties will include:
* Maintaining high-quality work through adherence to originating, checking, and approval procedures.
* SUPPORTING THE DEVELOPMENT AND COMPETENCY OF TEAM MEMBERS.
* Ensuring effective communication between relevant stakeholders, including clients, engineering teams, project teams, and support functions.
* Managing assigned teams, including workload allocation, quality assurance, and delivery to plans.
* Providing design input into tenders and proposals as required.
* Preparing estimates and providing technical input into scopes of work as needed.
* Ensuring assigned work is compliant with agreed budgets and schedules.
* Preparing discipline deliverables and providing input to multi-discipline deliverables.
* Checking and approving discipline deliverables prepared by other team members.
* Discipline focal point for project scope/schedule changes in accordance with project change control processes.
* Ensuring compliance with applicable standards, regulations, codes, and procedures.
* Supporting the recruitment process for discipline personnel across the business.
To succeed in this role, you should be able to demonstrate:
* A degree qualification in a relevant engineering subject.
* Chartered status with a relevant institution (e.g., ICE, IStructE).
* Brownfield experience in the offshore sector.
* Technical competence in concept, FEED, and detailed design of steel structures.
* Knowledge and experience in using relevant design codes and standards (e.g., Eurocodes, AISC, DNV, etc.).
* A proven track record of effectively managing a team of engineers/designers.
* Competence in ensuring quality of work and delivery to agreed schedules.
* Competence in using relevant engineering analysis and calculation software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, Mathcad, etc.).
* Competence in commercial, contractual, and administrative aspects of engineering.
