Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust has a vacancy for an experienced mammographer to join the team as a trainee Breast X-ray Interventional Radiographer, progressing to band 7 upon completion of training.
The position will be full time, Mon-Fri, working varied hours between 8 am - 6pm.
You will work as part of the Breast Unit's Multi-disciplinary team, supporting the Superintendent in the timely and efficient day-to-day running and delivery of the breast screening and symptomatic service. You will be expected to work autonomously as well as within the multidisciplinary team, and provide daily supervision for Assistant and Associate Practitioners (AP's), Radiography Department Assistants (RDA's) and student Radiographers and Band 6. You will assist in the mammographic training of radiographers, AP's and Apprentice Associate Practitioners.
Main duties of the job
The Maidstone Peggy Wood Breast Unit provides screening services to women as part of the National Breast Screening Programme, inviting in the region of 25,000 women per year. The majority of the screening is performed on the mobile breast screening vans covering the Maidstone, Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge, Sevenoaks, Cranbrook and Edenbridge areas. The symptomatic service is based at both the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Hospital Sites.
You must have HCPC registration as a radiographer; have the Postgraduate Award in Mammography and have extensive mammography experience. You must be willing to travel to all the sites used by the mobile screening vans and be flexible to the needs of the service requirements.

Person Specification
Qualification
* BSc in Radiography or equivalent. (Diagnostic or Therapeutic).
* Post Graduate Award in Mammography, recognised by the NHS Breast Screening Programme.
* Registration with Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Experience/Knowledge
* Knowledge of Breast anatomy and diseases.
* Evidence of CPD.
* Experience of mentoring and teaching.
* Experience of supervision and daily management of a clinical work area.
* Be able to operate image acquisition, RIS & PACS systems.
* Mammography experience, working within the NHSBSP or equivalent.
* Must be able to work within part of a multidisciplinary team but be able to work independently and be able to use their own initiative when required.
* Prepared to undergo role extension training if necessary.
Skills
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Excellent radiographic skills.
* Ability to perform high volume, quality mammography to NHSBSP standards.
