Job Title: Underwriting Manager
The purpose of this role is to contribute towards the delivery of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) through monitoring account performance, controlling underwriting standards, supporting business development activities, and ensuring that business written adheres to underwriting authority and standards.
You will participate in the Global P&C Academy accreditation, enhancing your skills in underwriting, risk engineering, pricing, and claims management while exchanging best practices across the Allianz Group. For pricing-based roles, Allianz Insurance offers a study package to obtain the actuarial qualification through the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in the UK.

Salary Information
Circa £70,000 per year, based on experience, skills, and location. Salary is part of our total reward package.
About You
As the Underwriting Manager, your responsibilities include:
1. Monitoring account and line of business performance, identifying under/overperformance, and implementing remedial actions.
2. Delivering KPI targets for complex cases and portfolios, understanding account management principles, and the impact of portfolio changes.
3. Adhering to Underwriting Authority, understanding the impact of decisions on P&L and plan achievement.
4. Supporting profitable business development, distribution segmentation, and stakeholder support.
5. Undertaking underwriting inspections, account control, and quality review programs.
6. Producing technical training material and leading training, mentoring, and coaching activities.
7. Liaising with internal teams and representing the company externally.
To succeed, you will have or be:
* Deep understanding of policy wordings, clauses, and non-standard covers.
* Ability to assess cover and hazards, applying risk management and underwriting rules.
* Knowledge of underwriting tools and skills to underwrite risks profitably.
* Understanding of claims causes and costs, and risk mitigation techniques.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and its application.
* Skills in segmentation and product development activities.
* Understanding of reinsurance programs and their strategic use.
* Ability to interpret statistical data and identify trends.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
* High level of underwriting authority or working towards it.
