We're looking for Waste Projects Manager. Based at our Capenhurst site location you'll provide expert support and advice to UNS, UUK and UCP projects on matters concerning the management of radioactive and non-radioactive wastes including, but not limited to, the characterisation, management, production, storage, packaging and consignment of waste. A key component of this role is to maintain a continuous understanding of the waste management needs within UNS, UUK and UCP projects, ensuring that the services that UNS provide meet these requirements. The role holder will provide expert waste management support to UNS global and Asset Management and will develop and deliver waste project scope of works where required. What you'll do: • Manage Waste activities in projects for UUK, UNS, UCP and Group Projects at the Capenhurst site • Act as the main point of contact for waste related concerns for UNS Global and Asset Management and develop scopes of work where required. • Provide expert support and advice on the management, production, disposal and treatment of waste to ensure that waste disposals meet appropriate regulatory standards within project. • Performance management of a team of project facing waste personnel. • To lead BAT optioneering studies. • Provide training and coaching to staff and contractors on the requirements of waste management at UNS, UUK and UCP • Undertake audits on behalf of UNS and lead investigations as required. • Accountable for delivery of waste project scopes of work What do you need to thrive in this role? • Degree in a scientific or engineering based subject • Certificate of competence to act as a Radioactive Waste Adviser • Transport of Class 7 by Road Level 2 or Level 3 • Previous experience working in a senior waste management position (such as Waste Engineer or Waste Adviser) on a nuclear licensed site or a site that works with radiological wastes. • In depth knowledge of disposal and treatment routes for wastes in the UK and overseas • Thorough understanding of legislation and frameworks that impact waste management in the UK • Understanding of characterisation methodology for radioactive and non-radioactive wastes (including the Data Quality Objectives and Data Quality Assessment processes) • Understanding of how projects are run and delivered particularly decommissioning projects. • Experience in the development and delivery of waste related scopes of work. • Strong organisational and time management skills • Desirable experience managing people • Desirable experience in nuclear industry and/or waste management What can you expect from us?
