We are seeking an Optical Development Engineer to join us within our R&D function, based at our state-of-the-art laser manufacturing facility in Stockport.
Key Responsibilities:
* As an Optical Engineer, you will work to optimize optical product performance.
* Ensure that designs meet customer requirements.
* You will be analyzing technical problems, proposing solutions, and making recommendations.
* Preparing and reviewing technical documentation, specifications, and reports.
* Designing and developing optical systems and components, applying industry regulations and safety standards.
* Collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals on-time and within budget.
* Performing research for problem-solving that requires extensive diagnosis.
* Modeling this process to less-experienced personnel.
* Creating and maintaining necessary documentation and reports.
Skills and Experience:
* Education - Bachelor's Degree in Optical Engineering or a related field with experience designing and developing optical systems.
* Knowledge - In-depth knowledge of optical component, coating, and system specifications.
* Experience selecting optical fabrication and assembly methods.
* Ability to develop, test, characterize, and validate optical components and systems.
* Proficient in optical design/modelling software.
* Effective communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
