A prestigious Private Practice, well-regarded and highlighted in the Legal 500 and Chambers rankings, is currently in search of a talented Construction Partner to join their expanding Construction team located in Dorset.
The firm is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Contentious Construction Solicitor to lead and develop our growing construction disputes practice. This is a senior-level position with responsibility for managing a diverse range of high-profile construction litigation and dispute resolution matters. You will play a key role in shaping and expanding the firm's construction offering and lead a newly-formed team of solicitors.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead complex construction disputes, including contractual claims, delay and disruption, defects, and professional negligence matters.
* Manage and mentor a team of junior and mid-level solicitors, providing guidance, training, and development opportunities.
* Build and grow the firm’s contentious construction practice by winning new clients and expanding relationships with existing ones.
* Oversee dispute resolution methods such as litigation, arbitration, adjudication, and mediation.
* Develop and implement business development strategies to raise the firm’s profile within the construction sector.
* Act as a trusted advisor to clients, including developers, contractors, subcontractors, and insurers.
* Work closely with the firm's partners and other departments to drive cross-disciplinary initiatives.
Key Requirements:
* Extensive experience (8+ years PQE) in contentious construction law, including a proven track record of managing complex cases.
* Strong leadership skills with experience in managing or mentoring a team.
* A network of contacts within the construction sector, with the ability to generate new business and enhance the firm’s reputation.
* In-depth knowledge of construction contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC), dispute resolution processes, and industry-specific legal challenges.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and clients.
* A proactive and entrepreneurial approach to business development.
