Quality Assurance Manager
Reporting to the Technical Manager, as QA Manager you will be responsible for maintaining and implementing the required standards for food safety, legality, and quality, including daily compliance with BRC standards for the operations. This will include managing the QA department and NPD.
Responsibilities:
1. Implementation of defined systems and procedures to enable accurate assessment, monitoring, and documentation of quality in a timely manner.
2. Maintain and continually improve the site QMS to ensure it remains robust and fit for purpose, including systems of internal audits, hygiene, HACCP, traceability, specifications, supplier approval, work instructions, customer complaints & focus, non-conformance, concessions, quarantines, corrective actions, and pest control.
3. Ensure the QMS documents are maintained and accessible to the relevant key personnel throughout the business.
4. Work with the Technical Manager to ensure that all products, both existing and new, are fully risk assessed as part of the HACCP.
5. Ensure production runs adhere to agreed specifications.
6. Ensure all QA daily tasks are completed and non-conformances are addressed and resolved.
7. Report and act upon non-conformance issues raised in-house and by the customer, including monitoring of hold stock and disposals.
8. QA team planning against start of year plans and regular assessment of performance against targets through reviews, communication, and development.
9. Train all factory staff on BRC, customer, and related documentation and ensure training records are maintained appropriately.
10. Monitor and investigate customer complaints and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
11. Publish monthly KPIs dashboard to Senior Management including critical concerns & continuous monitoring trends.
12. Report daily activities & concerns to Technical Management.
13. Micro monitoring and reporting of any issues, including ATP.
14. Ordering and maintaining stocks required for all QA.
To apply you will have thorough knowledge of food safety legislation, understanding and application of labelling, previous experience with technical specification management, and experience with ERP software. Knowledge of long shelf-life products is also expected, along with NPD processes. Essential experience includes third-party audit experience, BRC standards, and liaising with retailers. You should be degree educated in Food Science (or related) and be HACCP qualified. You will possess strong people management skills, with a solution-focused approach.
