Trust Registrar in Dermatology
This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in both inpatient and outpatient dermatology services in a vibrant Dermatology Department. We have a dedicated CESR training educational supervisor and encourage and support applicants looking to pursue a career in dermatology via the CESR route.
This is a cross-site post (Ealing and Northwick Park hospitals) and the post holder will have allocated educational and clinical supervision. The clinical commitments consist of outpatient clinics in general dermatology and two-week wait clinics, minor operative procedures, and inpatient ward work in rotation with specialty doctors.
The successful candidate would be expected to be actively involved in departmental audits, journal club, and medical student teaching. The post holder will be responsible for managing inpatient referrals in a timely fashion including liaison with various medical and nursing staff on wards.
London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust (LNWH) cares for the people of Brent, Ealing, Harrow, and beyond. Our team of more than 8,200 clinical and support staff serve a diverse population of almost one million people.
We run major acute services at:
1. Northwick Park Hospital: home to one of the busiest emergency departments (A&E) in the country. The hospital provides a full range of services including the country’s top-rated hyper-acute stroke unit and one of only three hyper-acute rehabilitation units in the UK.
2. St Mark’s Hospital: an internationally renowned specialist centre for bowel disease.
3. Ealing Hospital: a busy district general hospital providing a range of clinical services, as well as a 24/7 emergency department and urgent care centre, and specialist care at Meadow House Hospice.
4. Central Middlesex Hospital: our planned care site, hosting a range of surgical and outpatient services and collocated with an urgent care centre.
We are a university teaching NHS trust, in recognition of the important role we play in training clinicians of the future and bringing the benefits of research to the public.
There is time for CPD and opportunity to present interesting cases at local meetings. The successful candidate would be expected to participate in clinical research as the department at Northwick Park undertakes clinical trials and portfolio studies.
The post holder preferably should hold MRCP. Previous experience in Dermatology in the NHS is essential.
The Dermatology service consists of three units: one at Northwick Park Hospital, one at Central Middlesex Hospital, and the other at Ealing Hospital. The service has evolved this year with expansion of consultant, non-consultant, and nursing staff to include a dedicated dermatology pharmacist.
