Job Description:
The Vehicle Test Technician will be responsible for the preparation, building, and maintenance of vehicles or components for testing in accordance with local procedures and Nissan Engineering Manuals. The role involves supporting testing in static and dynamic conditions to gather accurate and timely test data/results.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Preparation and maintenance of vehicles or components for tests.
2. Support testing activities to gather accurate test data/results.
3. Liaise with Test/Design engineers to conduct tests to Nissan Standards.
4. Assemble and disassemble parts, components, or vehicles for test activities.
5. Maintain the Test Vehicle Fleet, including safety checks and repairs.
6. Camouflage confidential vehicles as per procedures.
7. Assist with facility management, including maintenance and calibration.
8. Write reports and assist with instrumentation set-up.
Materials and Equipment:
The company will provide the necessary tools, instrumentation, equipment, and task-specific PPE (such as eye protection, hearing protection, hand protection). The contractor must have safety footwear complying with EN ISO 20345 and an agency-branded uniform.
Qualifications, Skills and Training Requirements:
1. Ideally C&G / BTEC L3 in mechanical or automotive engineering with a recognized apprenticeship.
2. Understanding of vehicle disassembly, assembly, and maintenance techniques.
3. Knowledge of vehicle systems with the ability to fault find.
4. Electronic/Electrical background (automotive) preferred.
5. Experience within vehicle or component test environments is preferred but not essential.
6. Basic computer literacy and proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
7. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
8. Ability to work independently and manage workload.
