Oxford Royale’s Economics and Finance Summer School introduces students to the fundamentals of economic theory and financial management. We are seeking a knowledgeable and engaging teacher who can guide students through key concepts such as market structures, economic policies, and financial systems. The ideal candidate will challenge students to think critically about contemporary global economic issues, fostering a deep understanding of how financial markets operate and the role of economics in shaping societies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Prepare and adapt lessons using the Teacher’s Guide, ensuring the content meets the academic levels and interests of the students.
2. Deliver engaging lessons covering topics such as macroeconomics, microeconomics, financial markets, and economic policy.
3. Use subject expertise to encourage student progress, providing personalized feedback and adapting lessons to suit individual learning needs.
4. Lead interactive workshops, debates, and case studies to apply economic theory to real-world financial scenarios.
5. Mark assignments, provide detailed feedback, and complete student reports reflecting individual progress.
6. Handle administrative tasks, including maintaining registers and attending staff meetings.
7. Collaborate with fellow teaching staff to create a stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
Person Specification
1. Extensive knowledge and experience in economics, finance, or a related field, with an understanding of current economic trends and financial markets.
2. Passion for inspiring students and fostering their interest in economics, finance, and global markets.
3. Ability to communicate complex economic concepts clearly and adapt teaching methods to different learning styles.
4. Creative and confident teaching approach, encouraging critical thinking and analysis of global economic challenges.
5. Fluency in English and strong organizational skills.
Position Details
1. Programmes are two weeks in length, with options for 2, 4, or 6-week contracts available between July and mid-August 2025.
2. Teaching takes place Monday to Friday, with lessons scheduled from 09:00 to 16:00, although shorter hours may be available in some locations.
3. Compulsory online and in-person training will be required before starting the role.
4. While key teaching materials are provided, teachers are expected to adapt lesson plans to suit student interests and contribute their own expertise to the course.
Essential Qualifications
1. Undergraduate degree (or higher) in Economics, Finance, or a related field.
Desirable Qualifications / Experience
1. Experience teaching economics or finance to students aged 16-18.
2. PGCE or Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, or a related field.
3. Professional experience in economics, financial analysis, or related industries.
