Summary/Objective
The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for the receiving and shipping of parts, stock, equipment, and materials required for the effective and efficient operations of the dealership. Maintains organization and cleanliness of the warehouse. Processes scrap parts in accordance with local, state, federal regulations and company policies.
Essential Functions
* Receives (checks in) parts, stock, and materials. Compares information on packing slip with purchase order to verify accuracy of shipment.
* Inspects incoming stock, parts, and materials for damages or defects; records discrepancies or damages and accepts or rejects in accordance with company policies.
* Places all parts, stock, and materials in appropriate area or delivers parts as needed, logs inventory and delivery in accordance with company policies.
* Retrieves (pulls) purchased parts from inventory on request or notifies Supervisor if the requested parts are not in inventory.
* Keeps accurate records of special order parts requested.
* Clears the service and body shop area of scrap and discarded or unusable materials.
* Processes scrap, unusable, and usable material for warranty claims in accordance with manufacturer and company policy.
* Prepares and ships material as required.
* Delivers items to requesting departments and obtains authorized signatures for accepted items.
* Traces lost shipments; initiates proof of delivery documents.
* Operates dolly, pallet jack, and/or forklift in loading and unloading stock, parts, materials, and supplies.
* Operates company vehicle to deliver shipments.
* Assists parts and other service drive employees in selecting parts needed for repairs in process.
* Follows up on special ordered items and promptly notifies service drive employees when received.
* Organizes and maintains warehouse according to company standards.
* Establishes and maintains logical locations for all parts and equipment.
* Logs equipment and parts into the computer system.
* Establishes and maintains a system for aging special order bins.
* Establishes and practices measures to deter theft.
* Advises Parts Manager of any defective shipments, rejected shipments, inventory discrepancies, and if areas of the department are not in satisfactory condition.
* Assists in inventory control to achieve maximum turnover in accordance with established goals.
* Monitors and makes recommendations on how to adjust inventory to minimize obsolescence of parts.
* Ensures that all parts are properly tagged so that the dealership recovers full credit from the factory.
* Conducts inventory control activities and audits as directed by Supervisors.
* Establishes good working relationships with other service drive departments and the sales department.
* Completes all documents, forms, and reports in accordance with company policy.
* Uses proper safety equipment and acts in accordance with company policies and regulations.
* Keeps abreast of new equipment and tools available and recommends purchases.
* Ensures that the work areas and customer waiting area are kept clean.
* Follows all attendance and punctuality standards with adherence to timekeeping standards.
* Follows the Company Code of Business Ethics and Conduct.
* Understands and follows all work rules and procedures and follows lawful directions from Supervisors.
* Upholds the company's non-disclosure and confidentiality policies and agreements.
* Maintains a professional appearance for self in accordance with company policy.
* Attends pertinent training on request.
* Attends company meetings as required.
* Other duties as assigned.

Medium/Heavy Work - Will lift over 50 pounds with assistance device required and/or frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to or over 35 pounds with assistance device available as needed. This position will require the employee to be standing for prolonged periods of time. This position requires the ability to push, pull, climb, stoop, kneel, reach, grasp, and walk on a regular basis. This position requires the ability to hear and to talk. This position requires the ability to perform repetitive motion (doing the same activity over and over throughout the day). This position may work outdoors in extreme heat or cold. This position requires the ability to deal with hazardous materials safely.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Works evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or the equivalent and six months related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
