SEN Teaching Assistant - Make a Positive Difference!
Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire
Salary: £11.72 - £12.78 per hour (Actual salary: £19,370.70 - £21,122.66, depending on experience) ...
Hours: 37 hours per week - Term Time Only
Do you have a passion for helping young people with special educational needs? We are looking for dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to support students aged 11-19 with a variety of complex needs, such as autism, learning disabilities, and communication difficulties. Key Responsibilities:
Learning Support:
Collaborate with teachers to create a stimulating and supportive learning environment for students.
Individualized Support:
Offer tailored one-on-one or small group assistance based on each student's unique sensory and communication needs.
Build Trusting Relationships:
Develop positive, supportive relationships to help students feel secure and included.
Promote Positive Behaviour:
Implement creative strategies to encourage positive behaviour, adjusting your approach for each student.
Assist with Personal Care:
Provide personal care when necessary, always ensuring respect for the dignity and privacy of students.
What We're Looking For:
1. Experience working with SEN students (paid or voluntary).
2. A Level 2 or higher qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (preferred but not required).
3. GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade C/Level 2 or above) - essential.
4. Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
5. A flexible and creative approach to supporting individual learning needs.
