Main duties of the job
As Deputy Team Leader for Medicines Management Technicians, you will manage the day-to-day operations of the ward-based clinical team.
Key Responsibilities Include
1. Co-ordinating daily ward pharmacy operations - including medication history taking, medicines supply and patient counselling.
2. Supporting the Team Leader, Medicines Management Technicians with the strategic direction of the Medicines Management Technicians service.
3. Deputise for the Team Leader Medicines Management Technicians, in their absence, at internal pharmacy meetings or Trust meetings.
4. Leading staff within the team on a daily basis, including ongoing development needs and performance review and deal with HR-related processes, such as sickness absence.
5. Supervising and providing training and mentorship to all current and new staff involved in the medicines management processes.

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training Essential
* NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services / BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent
* Professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
* Accredited Checking Technician qualification
* Specialist ward-based pharmacy service knowledge achieved from significant experience as a hospital pharmacy services technician
* Management training course or equivalent experiential learning together with proven record in management of service, staffing and resources
* Experience in delivering education and training of other staff
* Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
* Experience of handling conflict including concerns raised by patients or staff
* Experience of change management and/or project work that influenced change
Desirable
* Accredited Medicines Management qualification
* NVQ A1 workplace assessors' qualification
* Involvement in service audit
* Contribution to SOPs and report writing
* Experience of contributing to cost improvement schemes
