Job summary We are looking for fulltime/permanent Band 5 nurse to join our friendly team in Endoscopy unit. You will be trained in the admission, assisting with procedure, recovery and discharge for patients having endoscopic procedures such as OGD, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, ERCP and EUS. You will gain skills in cannulation, recovering patients from GA's and sedation, giving advice post procedure and obtaining knowledge on different endoscopic procedures carried out in the department. Providing excellent nursing care on a regular basis. Taking charge and actively participating in and contributing to the management of the ward or department. Supervising and mentoring junior staff. Participate in the decontamination, traceability and maintenance of endoscopes and other specialised equipment used in endoscopic and non-endoscopic procedures and providing technical assistance during such procedures. Main duties of the job St. George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Endoscopy Unit is one of the three National Endoscopy Training Centres and houses the SW London Bowel Cancer Screening Centre. Comprises of six procedure rooms, providing facilities for both in-patient and out-patient investigations. The unit offers a wide range of endoscopy diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The team is staffed by team of experienced endoscopy nurses, the nursing staff working in close collaboration with gastroenterologists and hepatologists. All the staff are committed to ensuring that the highest standard of clinical care is delivered. The unit provides a range of educational and training programmes in endoscopy, available to both medical and nursing staff accredited with JAG and National Endoscopy Training programme.
