As an IT Apprentice, you’ll be exposed to a broad range of the technology used in schools. This will be an opportunity to learn and grow while contributing to the smooth operation of the school. You will work under the direction of the Senior IT Technician & Regional IT Manager.
HOURS AND WEEKS
37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 8am to 4pm and Friday 8am to 3.30pm
Whole Year - 52 weeks per annum, with 26 days annual leave + Bank Holidays, rising to 28 days after 5 years’ service

First year of apprenticeship Apprentice National Minimum Wage pay rate
* £6.40/hr
If you are aged 19 or over and have completed the first year of your apprenticeship. The higher National Living and Minimum Wage rates relevant to your age group:
* Under 18 - £6.40/hr
* 18 to 20 - £8.60/hr
* 21 and over - £11.44/hr

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer Service and Incident Management:
* Provide prompt and courteous support to staff, visitors & students.
* Log, triage, update, and resolve incidents and requests on the IT Service Desk.
Collaboration and Communication:
* Participate in weekly service desk reviews.
* Maintain communication with relevant staff until incidents or requests are resolved.
Technical Support and Troubleshooting:
* You will be part of the first line of support within the school, escalating issues when necessary.
* Document solutions for common problems.
Device Management and Preparation:
* Prepare devices (desktops, laptops, Chromebooks, iPads) for use.
* Support repairs of devices liaising with 3rd parties where applicable.
* Support use of audiovisual equipment within the school.
* Contribute towards keeping the IT Fixed Asset Register up to date.
* Assist in maintaining and supporting the IT hardware estate.
Continuous Learning and System Expertise:
* Continually enhance your knowledge of common local and cloud-based software packages.
* Support others in using these systems, including creating user guides and support materials.
* Under the guidance of the Senior IT Technician, participate in testing and installing new software.
* Help to promote a cybersecurity-aware culture.
* Identify areas for personal development and training.
Print Equipment Guidance and Support:
* Monitor consumable levels and address any issues related to automated replenishment, placing manual orders when necessary.
* Handle toner and paper replenishment as needed.
* Resolve basic faults with MFDs and print equipment.
* Escalate complex issues to third-party support when required.
Additional Responsibilities:
* Assist with preparing content for social media platforms.
* Assist with refreshing content used on the Digital Signage system.
* Be available for additional out-of-hours activities, such as parents’ evenings.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
* Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to the appropriate person.
* Undertake other reasonable tasks as required by the Principal and Regional IT Manager.
TRAINING
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.
