Job Responsibilities
* Functionality testing of new and existing software and hardware to test specifications.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, customs, practices, and all Protec systems, both current and legacy, as well as any necessary third-party equipment.
* Provide feedback to R&D on issues found during testing.
* Highlight concerns or recurrent faults to the Technical Services Manager, providing detailed information as needed.
* Write test harness software in languages such as Python.
* Support the Technical Team and assist a wide range of stakeholders including export clients, sales engineers, design staff, and end users via telephone, email, and Skype.
* Build and maintain test equipment racks.
* Assist in diagnosing faults with products returned from customers.
* Test products to ensure they meet specifications and conform to standards.
* Prepare professional test reports.
* Attend customer sites as required.
* Develop written technical procedures to assist Protec engineers.
* Conduct Electromagnetic Compatibility testing.
* Perform any other duties relevant to the role.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential: Full electrical qualification such as City & Guilds, ONC, HNC, etc. (to be evidenced by application)
Experience
Essential: Experience in the electrical/electronic sector; knowledge of electrical circuits and measuring devices (to be evidenced during application and interview). Desirable: Experience with Fire Alarms and related systems.
Skills / Abilities
Essential: Proficiency with laptops, measuring devices, smartphones, etc.; ability to guide troubleshooting remotely; good interpersonal and team skills; excellent oral and written communication; effective communication across various staff levels; familiarity with Microsoft Office.
