I am working with a local Bridgend school to find behaviour support to assist pupils in lessons and with everyday tasks. Someone with previous experience dealing with behaviour would be vital as we need someone to start and be comfortable in the environment immediately. The pupils can range from ages 7-19 but generally when you will stay with the same group of pupils for most lessons and break periods.
You may be asked to complete trial days within schools, but this enables both you and the school to see suitability, especially as a 1-to-1 support it is key that both parties get on well and are going to work well. In classrooms your main role with require you to just support the pupil and make sure that they are doing work in a timely manner and focusing, outside the classroom will be supporting pupils through lunches as sometimes that can be the most overwhelming part of the day.
Responsibilities:
* Ensuring pupils are engaging in all sessions.
* Assist in personal care tasks as an when if needed
* To plan and implement appropriate techniques to deal with challenging behaviour in pupils where appropriate.
* To take part in relevant training and courses as required.
Requirements and qualifications
* Enhanced DBS and registration with the EWC (Education Workforce Council)
* Understands the development needs of children and those with disability/challenging behaviour.
