ToucanTech is a fast-growing tech scale-up, which is revolutionising community management. Our smart community management software, encompassing an all-in-one database, website, and comms system, is perfect for teams managing membership, alumni, fundraising, and special interest networks. The successful candidate will be our first dedicated front-end application engineer, responsible for modernising our existing and expanding user interface, bringing in new technologies where appropriate.
Our development team, currently composed entirely of full stack developers, is highly enthusiastic and ready for a dedicated front-end lead, now needing somebody who’s a leader in the field to light the path. We have exciting challenges in the upcoming year, including productionising new AI features as well as a comprehensive back-end upgrade which you will need to match by presiding over our next generation front-end.
You will be the champion for UI/UX excellence within the business - lead, inspire, educate and motivate
You will personally write new front-end code and modify existing, but also ensure the wider team are well-equipped to maintain and extend your work
You will be rigorous and obsessive about consistency, and methodical in your working practices to ensure the success of what you’re building
You will work closely with our Lead QA Automation Engineer to ensure the front-end code is adequately covered by automated tests
ToucanTech also has staff working in design, product, data, sales, marketing, operations, and customer support.
You are deeply proficient with HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript and have used the JQuery library extensively
You have deep experience with at least two of these front-end frameworks: React, Vue, Bootstrap, Tailwind
You have ideally worked with PHP on the back-end
You are able and willing to coach team members on front-end development
