Manufacturing Engineer
Purpose of the Role:
As a Manufacturing Engineer - Body Assembly, you will leverage your process improvement expertise to assess current production systems, reduce costs, and optimize capacity. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with a comprehensive understanding of manufacturing operations.
You will play a key role in enhancing and developing the manufacturing processes used by our production teams to build high-performance vehicles. Additionally, you will support the integration of new model build processes into series production, focusing on continuous improvement, quality investigations, and advanced industrial engineering techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
Process Optimization:
* Update and manage process sequencing, documentation, and product traceability methodologies.
* Maintain and refine PFMEAs and Quality Control Plans.
* Implement and monitor Lean Manufacturing and error-proofing strategies.
Production Efficiency:
* Generate and report Hours Per Car (HPC) data, ensuring efficiency and output targets are met.
* Collaborate with operational teams to resolve production bottlenecks.
Continuous Improvement:
* Utilize tools such as 8D, Six Sigma, 4M’s, PDCA, and Kaizen to enhance process quality and throughput.
* Lead facility layout design and material flow improvements for new and existing models.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
* Support tooling solutions for Body in White processes.
* Provide leadership to cross-functional teams on manufacturing process and capability development.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
* Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering (2:1 or above), or equivalent experience in a similar role.
* Experience in:
* Vehicle assembly and body assembly processes.
* Specification and procurement of assembly equipment.
* Resolving product-related quality issues.
* Safe working practices.
* Proficiency with CATIA or similar 3D software is advantageous.
