Job Title: Cloud Engineer Hours: 37 hours per week Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum Location: Green Lane, Walsall We are seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to work with our engineering team to develop, implement, optimise, and maintain cloud-based solutions. If you have experience as an Azure Engineer, Azure Cloud Engineer, Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, or 3rd Line Support, we welcome your application. The Role: You will be responsible for providing expert consultancy and delivery capability to internal customers, taking ownership of the ongoing maintenance, reliability, cost control, and performance of our cloud and on-premises infrastructure. Monitor and maintain existing Cloud/Azure resources for performance and cost. End-to-end delivery of Cloud/Azure infrastructure projects supported by the Project Management Team. Develop strong business relationships with internal customers to understand their requirements, scope projects, and integrate South Staffs’ services with existing systems to reliably deliver best-in-class solutions. Assist with managing project deliverables, including development, implementation, configuration, integration, testing, and optimisation of our internal solutions. Provide proactive technical support, taking ownership of the resolution of technical issues. Act as a point of escalation, utilising the support of other teammates, the wider Group IT team, vendors, and partners where appropriate to ensure the swift and accurate resolution of technical issues. Accountable for the development of knowledge-base articles, work instructions, and supporting documentation that is used internally to deliver solutions against the required industry standards. Act as an industry expert within the assigned technology area. Achieve and maintain industry-recognised certifications, as required by the business. What You’ll Need: 5 years of experience with Azure-focused public cloud infrastructure, including engineering, implementation, and management. Expertise in modern infrastructure projects, VDI solutions (Azure Virtual Desktop), workload migration, and Azure networking/firewall implementations. Skilled in managing Azure AD/Entra, cloud backup solutions (Veeam, Azure native), and understanding the ITIL framework. Knowledge of on-premises servers, virtualisation, networking, NAS/SAN technologies, and Linux (RedHat) administration. Strong understanding of data governance, GDPR compliance, and handling sensitive data. Proven experience in producing internal documentation, working with project management methodologies, and keeping up-to-date with current technological developments.
